Prime Minister the Hon. Gaston Browne and First Lady Maria Browne on Sunday joined thousands in New York City for the South South Awards, considered the world’s foremost global development event to celebrate the United Nations 70th Anniversary and honour individuals for their global initiatives.

During the event, which honoured distinguished countries, individuals and organizations that embody transformative sustainable development worldwide; particularly in the areas of poverty reduction, education advancement and humanitarian [images cols=”five”]

impact, Prime Minister the Hon. Gaston Browne presented a number of the major awards and commended the organizers for recognizing the contributions of individuals and organisations for their work in making the world a better place for humanity.

\The event featured some of the world’s leading performers including   keyboardist Ray Chew, music producer for the reality television show “Dancing With The Stars,” and percussion­ist/drummer Sheila E.
